GOP Speaker Nomination Round 5 Vote Count:
Rep Tom Emmer (R-NC) – 117
Rep Mike Johnson (R-LA) – 97
Others – 5
Present – 1

The House Republican conference is meeting today to try and figure out a Speaker nomination that can get 217 votes before they go onto the House floor for another Speaker vote again.

As of time of writing, the House Republicans are on their fifth round of voting for a Speaker nomination. They eliminated Rep Kevin Hern (R-OK) and Rep Byron Donalds (R-FL) after the fourth round.

There are only two candidates left: Rep Tom Emmer (R-MN), and Rep Mike Johnson (R-LA). Tom Emmer seems to be the frontrunner in this race for the nomination.
