UPDATE (11/27/2023 10:30 AM Central): OpenAI hired Sam Altman back as their CEO again. Due to that, the rest of this article is now out of date.
OpenAI, the company that makes ChatGPT, fired their CEO Sam Altman last week. He’s a co-founder of OpenAI, and a well known artificial intelligence safety advocate. He is a big name when it comes to AI.
The Board of Directors at OpenAI stated that Sam Altman “was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities.”*
This morning, the CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella announced on Twitter/X that they’re hiring Altman. However, Microsoft is still partnering with OpenAI.
Emmett Shear has been hired as the new CEO of OpenAI by the board of directors. He has worked at Twitch, JustinTV, and other online businesses in the past.
Note: The Wisconsin Advance will not publish any new articles the rest of this week, because we are off for Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays!
